I am running for the Manhattan Beach School Board because of my heartfelt commitment to our schools. Each of my four children received an excellent education here, with my youngest now a senior at Mira Costa. With 17 years of service within the system, I appreciate the remarkable teachers, administrators, and staff while understanding the challenges facing our district. Through careful decision-making, fiscal accountability, honest communication and a clear vision for the future, I will work to ensure that our children receive the finest education possible. In doing so, I would bring the following experience to the Board:

  • Strong business, accounting and legal acumen as we face budget constraints and pandemic uncertainty:

    • CPA, National accounting firm (2 years)

    • Partner, Major LA law firm (16 years)

  • Comprehensive MBUSD experience in programs, facilities, technology and communications:

    • PTA Board, Pennekamp, PTSA Board MCHS (16 years)

    • PTA President, School Site Council, Pennekamp

    • Young at Art, Growing Great, Scholar Quiz, Scholar Breakfast

    • President, MCHS Cross Country Boosters

  • Invaluable district-wide perspective in numerous areas:

    • Board, District Advisory Council (9 years)

    • President, PTA District Council (2 years)

    • District Committees for Green/Communications/SEL

    • Representative, Washington, DC, National Green Award

  • Critical school funding experience locally and statewide:

    • Board, MBEF, Volunteers Chair, MBEF Wine Auction

    • Representative, Sacramento Safari (school funding)

    • Community organizer, MB Parcel Tax

  • Extensive MB community involvement:

    • Chair, Amigos Unidos

    • President, National Charity League, South Bay

    • Leader, Girl Scout Troop 15835 (12 years)

    • Executive Committee, Boy Scout Troop 860 (10 years)

    • Coach, AYSO/MBLL/MBYB (10 years)

    • Volunteer, Friendship Foundation/BCHD/Reading Partners

Over the years, I have worked closely with parents, teachers, administrators and students to promote

Manhattan Beach schools. Working on a team inspires me to find creative solutions and I look forward to being involved in the new construction efforts, the reopening of our schools, special needs

considerations and creating the best opportunities for our students. I will listen to your concerns, work to build consensus and promote open communication. I would greatly appreciate your support on November 3rd.
